Fantastic indie pop culture blog Wears The Trousers has just published an interview with Annie where she gives her thoughts on the Pet Shop Boys, Egyptology and DJ gender discrimination. It’s a very good read indeed!
Below are some new promotional pictures of Annie from her new and much better photoshoot for Don’t Stop. I couldn’t post them when they surfaced the other day because the gallery hadn’t been opened. The photos are very stylish and somewhat iconic (much better than what Island were using to promote Annie). Click on the thumbnails below to view the photoshoot in the gallery:
Edit: Some more new photos from this shoot added thanks to Anniemaniac Calum.
The Anniemaniac Gallery is finally open and off to a great start with over 860 pictures of Annie. We’ll be adding more to the gallery all the time. If you have any pictures of Annie that aren’t in the gallery, it would be great if you could send them into us to help make a complete photo collection. You can send them to aaron@anniemaniac.com and we will give credit. Thanks to Anniemaniac Reija for sending in some great magazine scans already.
You can visit the gallery by using the navigation to the right or by clicking on the picture below:
So this confirms that Annie’s next single is indeed Songs Remind Me Of You. Don’t scream too much Anniemaniacs, we want you to be able to leave a Comment in the box!
Annie has updated her Official MySpace with details of her new Paul Epworth tracks:
Annie also teamed up with producer de jour Paul Epworth (Bloc Party, Friendly Fires) to work on three tracks including hypnotic album opener ‘Hey Annie’, the pulsating title track ‘Don’t Stop’ and ‘I Don’t Like Your Band’, a slice of sublime stuttering electro-pop complete with hilarious throw-down lyrics,‘You’re out of tape and out of time. Don’t get me wrong – I like you, I don’t like your band, It’s not you, It’s your tunes’.
Interestingly, she’s also moved the Richard X produced fan favourite Songs Remind Me Of You to the top of her MySpace music player. More Annie/Richard X is always welcome!
PopJustice forum user ‘CharDog’, has seemingly heard Paul Epworth/Annie track Hey Annie and according to CharDog:
“Hey Annie” is basically Annie’s “Hollaback Girl.” Amazing.
This news should make all Anniemaniacs very excited. Annie is much better than Gwen Stefani, of course. And we won’t seek out CharDog and beat him up for hearing Hey Annie before us. We Anniemaniacs need to stick together.
She Should Not Be A New Kylie

Annie’s new label boss Joakim Haugland has given an interview about his latest signing on a Norwegian Newspaper. Can’t speak or read Norwegian? Nor can we. Which is why we’ve used nifty translation software so you can read the feature in (a close approximation of) English.

It looks like the saga of Scandinavian pop princess Annie’s sophomore album, Don’t Stop, is coming to a logical end. After announcing a tracklist more than a year ago, the record was delayed. Then the singer parted ways with Island Records. Then the album got revamped. Then a couple new singles came out.
Now, finally, Don’t Stop will be ready for mass consumption November 17, via Oslo’s Smalltown Supersound, a label known more for out-there electronics and experimental jazz than sweet and sticky pop.
Web-savvy Annie followers may recognize most of the track names (listed below) from an early version of Don’t Stop that leaked last year– though recent singles including “I Know UR Girlfriend Hates Me”, “Anthonio”, and “Two of Hearts” did not make the cut. (On the plus side, a track called “I Don’t Like Your Band” is included.) The record includes collaborations with Richard X, Timo Kaukolampi, Paul Epworth, Brian Higgins, and Franz Ferdinand’s Alex Kapranos. The new album cover, which you can see up at the top of this story, is incredible.
