Pitchfork Media has just reviewed Don’t Stop and it’s a good review. Phew. The famous music site is almost impossible to please but they adored Annie’s amazing debut (didn’t we all?) which means I adore them. Not only do they review the album but they’ve tackled the All Night EP too. Hurrah!

KEEP ANNIE INDIE!

As much as I and all the other indie kids would like to keep Annie to ourselves it’s not in her best interest. For someone, like she’s said on your site, with infinite ambition she strives for world domination. I didn’t like this at first… but doesn’t she deserve it? The only reason I’d still call her new record indie pop is because it was released on Smalltown Supersound. It’s a very modern pop record that should be getting a lot of radio play, but I don’t know if that’ll happen. Still, I hope Annie becomes an international superstar. It would be great for once to have someone I really like and care about (besides Bjork, I guess) achieve that kind of fame. Annie works so hard, I’ll be sad if she stays indie all her life.

I agree with you to a large extent, Anniemaniac EK, of course we all want Annie to get the credit she deserves. In our ideal world all that matters is the critical praise and credibility she has in abundance. But we want her to be a big popstar too. In my opinion she’s not easily placed alongside the current pop lot though. She’s just too…’Annie’, I suppose. She’s produced by others and yet sounds uniquely herself. I think all she needs is one BIG song and a good video. With luck some radio play. And that’s the key. I Don’t Like Your Band has potential I think. But her success must be on her own terms.
